Firearms and Ammunition

Firearms and ammunition designed for sporting and hunting purposes shall be carried as checked baggage only in the aircraft holds, which are inaccessible from the cabin when the following conditions are met:
- Firearms must be unloaded and made safe.
- Ammunition with explosive or incendiary projectiles are not accepted.
- Firearms are suitably packed to avoid breakage. Firearms may also be packed in passenger baggage among other items as long as it is well protected against breakage. Hard shell cases are recommended.
- Ammunition must be securely boxed and can also be packed together in the same case with the firearm.
- Maximum allowance for ammunition per passenger is 5 kg (pooling is not allowed). If the passenger travelling a group where more than one passenger carries the allowed amount of ammunition per person, the ammunition must be packed into separate packages each of which must not exceed 5 kg.
- If the firearm/ammunition is not within the normal baggage allowance, normal excess baggage charges apply.

It is advisable to contact the relevant embassy or consulate to confirm the latest regulations of the destination country. The customs regulations of the destination shall be strictly followed.
